If you’re planning on doing a lot of green juicing, choosing the best juicer for greens is the wisest thing you can do. Why, you ask?
Green juices are among the best fuel you can give your body on a regular basis. But not all green juices are created equal. Some are exposed to heat and oxidation, which kills vital nutrients and makes the juice come out foamy. Others are extracted firmly but gently, with minimal heat and oxidation, resulting in more juice with higher available nutrients.
The difference? The type of juicer machine that you use to extract the juice from leafy greens.
This is precisely why choosing the best juicer for leafy greens is very, very important, especially if you plan to do a lot of green juicing. This is a long article so if you don’t have time, here’s a quick snapshot of our top 3 picks when it comes to green juicers.

All of these juicers produce less waste, getting a high juice yield and very dry pulp – important when you’re spending a lot of money on produce and you want to get the most out of it. The best part? The best juicer for greens doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg.
Why Do I Need a Juicer for Leafy Greens?
Most juicer machines claim to be able to juice pretty much every kind of produce. And it’s true – juicer machines can juice a wide variety. But here’s the fine print: they don’t all do a very good job at it.
You see, every juicer has its strengths and weaknesses. If it’s good for citruses, it might not be able to juice much else. If it’s great for harder vegetables, it might not be so good for soft fruits. Most hardcore juicers who juice on a daily basis soon realize this fact and abandon juicer monogamy – even myself, over the years, I have acquired a couple juicers and they each vary when it comes to what they juice best.
Green juicing, of course, is no exception – if you’re planning to juice a lot of leafy greens (definitely a smart plan!), you have a few great choices but there is one type of juicer that is not recommended for juicing greens.
Is There a Best Centrifugal Juicer for Leafy Greens?
Centrifugal juicers are popular, widely available, and pretty darn affordable. Which is why many people ask me for recommendations on the best centrifugal juicer for leafy greens.
My honest answer is: Skin the centrifugal juicer.
They simply don’t make the best juicers for greens, both in terms of juice quality and quantity. So why am I being so discriminatory?
Well, it’s nothing personal. Centrifugal juicers certainly have their place – they’re common, easy to get, and they have the advantage of being convenient and fast. But these same advantages are also what make them disadvantageous for juicing leafy greens.
You see, centrifugal juicers extract juice from fruits and veggies by grating them into little pieces and then literally “spinning” the juice out of the pulp at high speeds – really high, like up to 10,000 RPM (revolutions per minute). This works great for harder, denser produce, but it proves really ineffective at juicing leafy greens.

Leafy greens are very light weight and need to have the juice pressed out of them. Instead, the typical centrifugal juicer ends up just flinging the leafy green bits around and you won’t get much juice extracted from them. Not to mention that the speed of centrifugal juicers also heats up your juices, resulting in foamy juice and increased oxidation.
So while centrifugal juicers definitely can juice leafy greens, they aren’t the most qualified for the task. Especially when consider that there are much better juicer machines for leafy greens at pretty much the same price range!
What is the Best Juicer for Greens?
If you’re looking to juice a lot of greens (and keep them as fresh and nutritious as possible) – you’re going to want to choose a slow juicer like a masticating or triturating juicer.
I’ve compiled a short list of the best juicers for greens here – these 3 do an excellent job of extracting every last drop from even the leafiest of greens for fresh, great-tasing green juice.
You can’t go wrong with any of them, although the first one is definitely our favorite…
BEST OVERALL: OMEGA JUICERS
Of course you knew I’d list Omega juicers – they are, after all, the best-known brand of masticating juicers. And for good reason – Omega juicers are great at what they do. These are true “slow” juicers, operating at only 80 RPM to “squeeze” out a really high juice yield without the foam, heat or oxidation that faster juicers cause.
The only problem with Omega juicers is deciding which one is best. There are so many models, they all sound great and if you – like me – tend to be indecisive, you can lose sleep mulling over the pros and cons of the J8005 vs the J8005 vs the VRT350. Yeah, not fun.
But for the sake of convenience, I’m going to discuss the Omega juicer that I personally found to be the best and highly recommend for juicing leafy greens and other juicing favorites. It’s the Omega J8006. No surprise there.

The Omega J8006 is simply the best masticating juicer for leafy greens and great value for what it offers. It’s relatively affordable – even compared to the usually-more-affordable centrifugal juicers. Plus, it comes with a 15-year warranty.
As for its functionality? This is an awesome juicer for greens. You get super dry pulp, there is no heat buildup in the juice, it’s quite quiet, really easy to clean, and the single auger is slow yet thorough and powerful.
And it isn’t just good for your everyday greens, either – the Omega J8006 does a great job juicing wheatgrass as well as pretty much every other fruit and veggie (and even those parts you don’t usually eat, like watermelon rinds and grape stems.
Oh, and if you have the time and desire – you can even use this juicer to make cold pressed coconut oil, whip up sorbets as well as to make your own baby food, pasta, ice cream, and nut milk. Yea, it quadruples as a food processor, pasta extruder, homogenizer, and grinder. It’s not only one of the best juicer for greens – it’s also ridiculously versatile.
Note: If you really want an Omega juicer but you simply cannot handle the price tag – you should know that Omega offers a more budget juicer. It’s the Omega H3000D – a masticating, slow juicer – and at a little over $100, it’s a lot more wallet friendly.
BEST VALUE: AICOK SLOW JUICER
Speaking of affordable juicers for leafy greens, the Aicok slow juicer is a newcomer to the market but it’s got a lot to offer. And at a price tag of around $150, it’s a very good value slow juicer for green juicing.

As a slow, masticating juicer, it operates at only 80 RPM – just like the Omega juicers – so the juice is extracted with maximum juice yield and minimal oxidation. There’s not much heat to speak of as well and foamy juices aren’t a problem at all with this juicer.
But the best thing about this juicer is that it is very, very convenient. The parts are very easy to clean – and dishwasher safe! – and super easy to reassemble. So if you’ve been put off juicing in the past with a complicated juicer machine – this one is perfect.
The only downside is that this juicer comes with a warranty of only 3 years – which is a fraction of the Omega juicers.
Despite that, though, given its price, convenience and juice quality – this is one of the best juicers for greens.
PREMIUM PICK: GREEN STAR JUICER
If you plan on juicing a lot of greens and you want top notch juice quality – and quantity – and you don’t mind paying a little more for these perks, the Green Start Juicer is hands down the best juicer for leafy greens.
The Green Star is aptly named as it is specifically designed to juice your greens. So if you’re looking for the best juicer for kale, spinach, arugula (even this you can juice!) and a tons of other delicate leafy greens – this one is it.
It’s one of the best juicers around – generally, not just for leafy greens and it can tackle just about any fruits or veggies that you throw in its direction, but it’s particularly well-suited for juicing leafy greens, herbs, sprouts, fibrous plants and grasses, wheatgrass, and even tricky stringy and tough veggies.
And it’s not just that it can extract green juice -it does so with ease (can handle continuous juicing) and it also produces a very high juice yield, thanks to the fact that the Green Star is a triturating juicer with twin gears that were designed to imitate human teeth. These powerful twin hears slice, cut and then crush every last drop out of your greens for maximum juice yield and bone dry pulp.
This makes the Green Star the green juicer to have when you’re juicing a LOT of greens and want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

Even more interestingly, the Green Star uses a unique magnetic technology proven to extract more vitamins and minerals in the juicing process. You can read more about that in our full Green Star review.
Much like the Omega juicer above, the Green Star is also very versatile. As they say, it is the only juicer you’ll ever need. It does everything. It juices wheatgrass, sprouts, and all other leafy greens amazingly well. It makes nut butters. It makes sorbets. It makes pasta and breadsticks. It even makes baby food. It even comes with a 12-year warranty.
The only drawback to this juicer is the price and the fact that although it’s advertised as one of the easiest juicers to clean, it does take longer to clean than, say, the Omega masticating juicer. All the detachable parts are easily removed for cleaning, but there are more parts and thus takes longer.
But overall, the Green Star produces the highest juice yield of the best quality juice. If you’re looking for the best juicer for greens – this is it.
HONORABLE MENTION: MUELLER MASTICATING JUICER
The above juicers are the top 3 best juicers for greens – and as you can see from the reviews, they’re also very versatile juicers.
But if you already have a juicer that does a pretty good job at juicing pretty much everything but greens and you’re just looking for a simple, easy-on-the-wallet juicer just to get the most out of your greens – a manual, wheatgrass juicer might be perfect for you.
I recommend wheatgrass juicers for juicing other leafy greens simply because they’re designed for lightweight, delicate wheatgrass so they naturally also do a superb job of juicing most leafy greens.
The downside? There is actual work involved – you’ll have to hand crank the juice out of these machines. The upsides? Very easy on the wallet, no electricity required, and a great portable juicer for your travels.

How easy on the wallet, you ask? Very. The Mueller Masticating Juicer is just a little over $20, which makes it hands down the best value juicer for leafy greens.
It’s perfect for people who want to juice mostly grasses and leafy greens and maybe a few pieces of harder produce from time to time. Plus, it’s basically a single auger, masticating type of juicer without the motor, which means the same process of extraction with no heat and better preservation of nutrients and enzymes.
It’s very affordable compared to other high-quality juicers and it performs superbly – it’s great at juicing wheatgrass and other delicate leafy greens, i.e. spinach, parsley, kale, collard greens.
The juice yield is quite high and the pulp is usually dry, so it does a good job of extracting juice from greens. You can also juice harder produce like carrots and apples on this juicer, but it’s real strength lies in leafy greens. It’s also just 3 parts and a breeze to clean.
The best part is that when you decide you want to move on to juicing a wider variety of produce and invest in a more advanced juicer, you can still use this one as a travel juicer – it only weighs a few pounds!
As you know by now, the juicer machine that you end up using to extract the affects everything from quantity of the juice you end up with to the quality of nutrients so choose the best one! It’s a worthwhile investment especially if you plan to be juicing diversely, for a long time.
You forgot the one juicer that blows the green star away.. The super angel 5500
Very true, Matt – I’ve heard wonderful things about the Super Angels but their price tag has been keeping me away 🙂 As soon as I get my hands on one, a review will be coming.
How much does the super angel 5500 costs?
A quick search on Amazon shows it’s a little over $1,100…
