Juicing for Health? Here are 5 Uncommon Foods that Super Power Your Juices

Are you an avid juicer? If the answer is yes, then you probably have a few favorite juicing recipes that you drink everyday. While drinking fresh juice is super healthy for you, if you are consistently drinking the same juices, then you may be doing your body a disservice.

The best way to gain the optimum benefits from juicing is to mix up your recipes and start juicing fruits, veggies and herbs that aren’t so common. If you are ready for a little adventure, then here are five uncommon foods that can take your juices to the next level.

#1. Garlic

Garlic is one of the oldest plants in the world. For centuries this wonderful plant has been used for medicinal reasons around the world. Garlic is a wonderful addition to your daily juices because it stimulates digestive enzymes, can lower your cholesterol and promotes detoxification.

Garlic’s inner power comes from its ability to be a potent anti-fungal. It will wipe out any fungal infections in your body and keep your immune system working properly.

Plus, garlic also has been proven to reduce your risk of cancer by targeting abnormal cells in your body. This miracle plant is truly an ingredient that you should be ingesting on a regular basis to stay healthy.

Why you should juice it? Garlic’s one of those veggies that’re just better raw.

Want a juice recipe to try? Here’s a great one, courtesy of Spa Bettie. It’s super simple and all you’ll need is…

  • 1 fresh garlic clove
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 bell pepper

Quick tip: Go for yellow or orange bell peppers – they tend to be sweeter. This juice is perfect for those times when you feel a cold coming on and you want to stop it in its tracks!

#2. Moringa

juicing superfoods moringa

Moringa is a leaf that is native to India. It is a super energy booster and is packed full of nutrition – in fact, it’s so nutritious that it also goes by the moniker “the world’s most nutritious plant.”

And it’s not even hyperbolic, when you consider that moringa leaves contain over 90 nutrients and 45 compounds with anti-oxidant properties and 36 with anti-inflammatory properties!

The thing is – it’s pretty challenging to find fresh moringa leaves to throw into your juice each morning so if you want to get the energy, nutrients, and all the health benefits of moringa, either sprinkle it in powder form into your juices and salads. Of course, you can always blend it into smoothies as well!

#3. Barley Grass

It will give your daily juices a slight savory taste while adding over 12 minerals and 13 vitamins – that is, if you can find (or grow) fresh barley grass to juice.

Which can be challenging but worry not – barley grass can also be found in powder form and blends wonderfully into smoothies.
