The Jack Lalanne Power Juicers have been on the market since 2002. In the first two years over 2 million of these juicers were sold. So just what makes them so popular?
The Power Juicers are known to be simple in design, yet highly functional. The Jack Lalanne range also has a reputation for being good quality durable machines.
It is important to note that these are centrifugal juicers. As such, they are more affordable than masticating and hydraulic press juicers and are great starter juicers for those who are looking for convenience over juice quality. This is because centrifugal juicers are much faster – which is perfect when you’re short on time but also tends to oxidize fresh juices and detract from overall juice quality.
Here’s what we mean: The motor operates at 3500 to 3600 revolutions per minute (rpm), depending on the model (compare that to the 80 rpm of Omega juicers). Fruits and veggies are chopped, ground and smashed to extract healthy raw juices.
The Jack Lalanne Power Juicers have a unique juice extraction method that maximizes the juice yield from all your fruits and veggies. In fact, this patented extraction technology is reputed to extract as much as 30% more juice that other centrifugal juicers on the market. This method of extraction also preserves nutrients and enzymes ensuring juice with a high nutritional value.
However, it must be remembered that centrifugal juicers are generally known to produce lower quality juice. This is because they operate at high speeds, causing friction and heat, which destroys some of the enzymes and nutrients. In addition, oxidization occurs, which further lowers the nutritional value of the juice and reduces its shelf life so that it has to be consumed immediately. You ultimately have to weigh this up against the cheaper prices of these juicers.
Here’s a rundown of the PROS and CONS of all Jack LaLanne Power Juicers!
PROS
- Prep Time. The wide 3 inch feed chute can accommodate most whole fruits and veggies, saving you prep time as no chopping is required.
- Quiet. Especially for a centrifugal juicer with a powerful motor, the Power Juicers are blissfully quiet.
- Quality. Power Juicers are durable and reliable appliances, featuring a chopping blade made from surgical-quality stainless steel.
- Very Affordable. The Power Juicers are good quality, affordable juicers.
- Lifetime Warranty. All models come with a lifetime motor warranty.
CONS
- Not Great for Green Juice. Like many juicers, the Jack Lalanne Power Juicers are not very efficient when it comes to juicing leafy green veggies.
- Hit or Miss Durability. A few years back, the Jack LaLanne power juicers were known for their high-quality, durable parts but in the recent past, many customers have had issues with parts breaking quickly and easily.
- Froth. Like many centrifugal juicers, the juices made by Power Juicers can be quite frothy.
- Assembly. It’s fine once you get the hang of it, but in the beginning, these juicers can be a little tricky to assemble and take apart to clean.
Now that you know the general pros and cons of all the Jack LaLanne juicers, let’s go over the top 3 models available on the market!
Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro
This is the top of the range when it comes to Jack Lalanne Power Juicers. What is immediately noticeable about the Power Juicer Pro is its sleek design – beautifuly compact with a high end stainless steel finish.
However, you can’t juice as quickly as you would expect from a centrifugal machine, which is a good thing since going slower ensures a relatively good juice yield, especially if you juice produce separately and only mix the juices after extraction.
This model features a drip-free spout to eliminate as much mess and fuss as possible. In addition, it has a large pulp collector so you can juice a lot of fruits and veggies before you need to clean it out.
A stainless steel mesh filter produces healthy juices with a fine, smooth texture.
This feature also enhances the quality of other items such as nut butters.
Jack LaLanne Power Juicer DELUXE
This juicer is incredibly easy to operate. There is just one switch to operate the juicer, regardless of what you are planning on juicing. Like the Power Juicer Pro, you have to go quite slowly when using the Power Juicer Deluxe if you want maximum juice yield and minimum leakage.
With this model you have to read the manual first to ensure that you follow all the steps correctly. This means that it’s not very straightforward to use at first, but it does become easier after a few tries once you’re familiar with all the steps. Once you’ve got the hang of it, this juicer has an incredibly high juice yield for a centrifugal juicer.
Although there are nice features like a drip-free spout, in order to make this juicer more affordable, there are some cheap finishes such as chrome plated plastic.
However, this doesn’t detract from its ability to juice fruits and veggies with ease. Even though it is meant to be dishwasher safe, it’s best to wash this model by hand to preserve the chrome plating on the plastic.

Jack LaLanne Power Juicer express
This is the most compact of all the Power Juicers. This is a particularly affordable model, but it has had mixed reviews in terms of its performance. One drawback of a cheaper model is that it is comprised mainly of plastic, which means that you have to be just that much more careful when using it.
Like the other juicers by this brand, you have to read the manual thoroughly before you can start juicing. Following the detailed instructions will bypass many of the perceived problems with this model.
Because it is a centrifugal juicer, it doesn’t handle leafy greens very well, but it does produce very good quality juice from other fruits and veggies.
